Welsh Cob gelding born 2012, 148 cm but is slightly less weight-bearing than one might expect given his substantial (and handsome ;-) ) build. Trained to LB-LA dressage level. Pros: - Fun to train in the arena - Fantastic to ride out - Very, very kind - Fun to work with from the ground and on the lunge - Quick learner and intelligent - He loves being shod (!), looks like he's about to fall asleep. - Easy to load - Well-behaved in general - As a youngster, he was for sale as a dressage talent, but for reasons I can explain further upon contact, it didn't pan out. So, potential exists for the right person. Cons: - Is afraid of the jump pole, which we have worked on during our three years together, and he has made some progress. - Tends to get stressed, which means he unfortunately hasn't performed well at competitions, especially not with the current rider who also has somewhat shaky competition nerves. In everyday life, this is not a problem as he never bolts or runs off. If it becomes too much, he freezes in place or paws the ground. He is ALWAYS manageable. - He has a slightly long back and needs to be trained accordingly. - Has a history of injuries that I am happy to discuss further if you are interested. - Has moved too many times during his life. - Dislikes trucks, buses, or tractors. He shows this by tensing up, pawing the ground, and perhaps taking a few canter strides in place. He is completely unbothered by passenger cars. Dream Home: - He thrives best with his own secure person in their familiar environment. - A person who truly understands horses, is empathetic, sees the individual, and wants to work extensively on connection and trust. - A long-term home with time to wait for him to settle in and feel comfortable. - Training ambitions are WELCOME, and if he is given the right conditions and the right rider, he can certainly be competed in the future. - He will not be shipped off to just anyone; I would prefer that you meet him several times to get the full picture of this wonderful companion. - I believe he would be perfect for a small pony mom who wants a fun horse to ride out with her children and also train dressage and develop together with him.
